Surge Hire Ltd (company no. 17316494), registered office Summerhill Cottage, Drovers Lane, Caerwys, Flintshire, CH7 5AP ("Surge Hire", "we", "us"), is the data controller for the personal information described below. This policy explains what we collect through this website, why, and what your rights are under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

When you use our quote form or contact us directly, we collect the information you provide: your name, phone number, and details of the generator hire or purchase you’re enquiring about. If you message us on WhatsApp, we see your phone number and the content of your messages. If you email us, we see your email address and message content.

How we use it

We use this information only to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, arrange a hire or sale, and — where you become a customer — to manage that hire or sale (invoicing, delivery, collection, servicing, and any related support). We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties, and we do not use it for marketing unless you separately agree to that.

Who else sees it

Our website quote form is processed by Formspree, a form-handling service, which forwards submissions to us by email. Our WhatsApp Business messaging is handled by WhatsApp/Meta under their own privacy terms. We may also share necessary details with delivery drivers, subcontracted engineers, or sub-hire partners strictly to fulfil your hire or order. We do not otherwise share your data with third parties except where required by law (for example, HMRC or Companies House record-keeping obligations).

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use this site — which pages are popular, roughly how people found us, and how the site could be improved. Google Analytics works by setting cookies in your browser.

We only set these cookies with your consent. When you first visit the site you’ll see a cookie banner where you can Accept or Decline — the site works exactly the same either way, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser’s cookies for this site, which will show the banner again. How long we keep it

Enquiry details are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you, and customer records (hire agreements, invoices) are kept for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (currently at least 6 years, per HMRC requirements).
